3 Benefits to Mangosteen Juice

The mangosteen, which is often confused with the mango, is a fruit that originally comes from south east Asia in areas such as Thailand and Malaysia. Over the years people have tried to grow it in different climate but as far as fruits go, this one is very particular about the surrounding conditions.

Now we are fortunate enough to have other areas in the world for example Hawaii and Puerto Rico which does help to bring down the import costs.

As you may have guessed from my last statement, buying mangosteen juice is not cheap so why should you pay more than what you would spend on say a carton of fresh orange?

Mangosteens Contain Xanthones

What are they and why would I benefit from them? Xanthones are a very rare component in food and so far there have been only just over 200 different types of xanthones found in the world and 40 of them come from the mangosteen. They have properties such as anti-inflammatory’s, anti-convulsant and anti-allergic abilities.

Body and Mind Condition

Mangosteen juice has been shown to provide you with a healthier body and helps to make some people more mentally sharp.

Drugs or Fruit?

As time goes on  there are more and more clinically proven benefits of the mangosteen, to the extent that some doctors recognise it as an alternative to drugs.

There are three simple benefits to why you should look to make mangosteen juice a part of your daily diet but you should be careful when buying the juice.

Whilst the fruit inside is extremely tasty it hardly holds any nutrients when compared to the skin. This is strange because the skin contains tannins and other chemicals to help protect the fruit in the wild form insects. Often when you buy mangosteen juice it will be mixed with other fruits to dull down the flavour of the skin.

You will notice that the drink is reasonably expensive but occasionally you will find a cheaper option. These drinks will taste great however you should check the ingredients. What you will find is that it contains only the fruit and not the skin so you will not gain any benefits from drinking it.

There is more information on mangosteen juice over the the Food and Drink site so go and have a look to find out more about it.
