There are many diets out there that will give you the science behind losing weight and provide you with a bunch of formulas which take a whole book to actually get to the heart of the matter. All you want to know are a few simply ways to get the job done, right? Thank goodness you don’t really need to read a whole book to get the answers you need.
Here are 4 ways to lose weight that absolutely work without counting calories. The only condition is you cannot increase your consumption of snack food otherwise you will negate almost all of your efforts.
1. Eat ½ plate fruit or nonstarchy vegetables at each main meal.
Mentally divide your plate in four quarters. One quarter will contain a lean protein. One quarter will contain a starchy carbohydrate. And the last two quarters will contain nonstarchy vegetables. If you are still hungry after finishing your plate only have seconds of nonstarchy vegetables.
2. Eat all of your fruit and nonstarchy vegetables first.
Fill up on your low calorie food options first. The idea here is that you will only need a few bites of your higher calorie food to feel satisfied.
3. Limit starchy foods including starchy vegetables to no more than 2 servings a day.
Starchy foods tend to be more calorie dense than protein or nonstarchy foods. Bottom line, the less calorie dense foods you eat the fewer calories you take in.
4. Burn 500 calories a day via workouts.
If you are serious about losing weight and keeping it off you will have to exercise at least four days a week to burn extra calories. Combine the extra 2,000 calories burned each week with the natural reduction of calories in your diet from the tips presented above and you are sure to lose a consistent amount of weight each month. Consider using a Polar heart rate monitor to track calories burned during your workouts.
