An acute anxiety disorder is one type of anxiety disorder. It is better known as a panic attack. A panic attack can be the cause of a certain fear of a situation or object. However, it is not a normal fear but a pathological abnormal fear. It is not just being afraid of spiders, but an abnormal fear that causes the person to panic and flee the situation. It is not always related to a certain object or situation. Sometimes the attack bursts out totally unexpected in a random situation. This will make the person insecure about when or where the attack will occur. The effect could be severe enough for the person to avoid certain situations or places. Eventually the person may avoid social situations and rather stay at home. They want to stay at home because a panic attack seldom occurs at the safety of ones home. When it leads to agoraphobia, the person has a severe acute anxiety disorder, looking for help is their only way out.
When you have a panic attack, your breathing will accelerate and you feel tightening of the chest. You feel painful stings at your heart and you could start hyperventilating. it is a very emotional experience as someone truly believes that he is having a heart attack and could die. Dieing is not the case, but because someone is overwhelmed with panic, the bodily sensations will feed the believe that there is something wrong. The effect is that the mind will enforce the bodily sensations and making it worse. When you have this feeling you only want one thing and that is fleeing.
A panic attack will occur suddenly, very acute. When you have had a panic attack, there is a very large chance that it will lead to more attacks that are more severe. When this happens there will be a fear of the panic attacks occurring at social situation, like work or a date or a night out. Feelings of shame and fear may lead the person to avoid situations where the panic attacks may lead to dis comfortable feelings. Eventually the person will avoid all social situations and not leave the house anymore.
A, acute anxiety disorder is very well treatable. However the first step should be a cry for help. A psychologist might help you analyzing the fear and help you taking control of the fear.
