Belly Button Breast Augmentation Explained

You have decided to augment your breasts and you may be considering a belly button breast augmentation. This method is relatively new, first introduced in the early nineties. It is abbreviated as TUBA (trans-umbilical breast augmentation). The major benefit of this method is the absence of scars on or around the breasts.

Once you have ironed out the details of size and placement, either just under the breast tissue or under the chest muscle, you will be given a general anesthesia to put you to sleep for the duration of the surgery. An incision will be made in your navel towards the top fold, which will hide any scars nicely. An instrument called an endoscope will be inserted into the incision and burrow a tunnel to your breast. An incision will be made as an opening for a pocket to be formed. The tunneling and incision process is repeated on the other side. A breast implant sizer that is rolled up is moved up to the breast and pushed into place; it is then inflated with saline to a size bigger than the implant will be. This creates space for the implant to be inserted. The pocket formation is repeated for the other breast and discrepancies are noted. The sizers are deflated and removed.

The implants are inserted the same way the sizers were, the fill tubes extending from the implants out the navel incision. The implants are filled and adjusted with the fill tubes until the surgeon is satisfied with the end result. The fill tubes are removed easily with a slight tug. The implants are equipped with self sealing valves to prevent leaking into the body. Now the surgeon closes the navel incision with stitches that the body absorbs.

Once awake the doctor will undoubtedly remind you that you will be back to mostly normal in about four to seven days and that exercise can be resumed in a few weeks. He will also remind you of signs of infection to look out for, such as redness, swelling, and excessive bleeding or drainage from your incision. He will also beam at you proudly over his handiwork and encourage you to enjoy your augmented breasts without the unsightly scars of other methods.
