Benefits of a Pilates Exercise Program

How can cardio Pilates workouts benefit your physical fitness?  Developed by Joseph Pilates many years ago, the system of Pilates exercises as practiced today boasts substantial benefits to include helping to increase body motion and circulation, helping to develop greater flexibility and better posture, helping to relieve neck, back and joint pain, and many more.

Pilates workouts were developed to strengthen the core of the body, mobilize the spine area and increase flexibility.  Professional Pilates instructors claim that when these exercises are performed correctly they will not only perform the above stipulations but more because they are not just exercises performed in a routine, but are reeducating people to be aware of how improper motion and actions throughout the day adversely affect their body causing aches and pains in joints and muscles.

The Pilates exercise program works just as well for the housewife as it does for a professional athelete; when done properly it is as effective for seniors as it is for youth.  It does not matter what stage of fitness you are in, regularly engaging in Pilates will help your body become stronger, leaner and gain greater flexibility.  It is an adaptable method that can be modified to fit a wide range of individual needs, making the workout safe and challenging for all levels.

The difference between the Pilates exercise program and other fitness programs is its focus of training the core muscles of your body as opposed to merely working on one or two specific areas.  This means muscle toning that complements the functionality of the whole body, not just building muscles for show, as well as increasing the stretching of muscle tissues and flexibility of joints.  Core muscles are the main muscles that support your back, abdomen and pelvic areas that help us have effective movement in other parts of our body.  When these muscles are strong, the entire frame of our body is strong.

The goal is to create a body capable of bending and stretching without pain or discomfort through the normal routines of daily living. Pilates intertwines its exercise program with daily living to provide the long lasting healthy results you desire.
