Bleeding Hemorrhoids Are Serious Business

If you have rectal bleeding, the very first thing you must do is see your doctor! Some people become embarrassed by the condition and are afraid someone might see a blood stain on their clothes. They feel there is a stigma with bleeding hemorrhoids because it is such a personal medical condition. While it is personal, and can be embarrassing, those are not reasons for you to try to cure the condition on your own and not go to the doctor.

Some people develop bleeding and wrongly assume they have a hemorrhoid bleeding, when in fact they have a much more serious condition that requires immediate medical treatment. You might have just a small rectal cut, or you might have a very serious condition causing the bleeding. or more likely, you have something in between and it is probably very treatable. But, if you do not have that treatment applied timely it can very well get worse and cause much more serious complications.

Once you have been correctly diagnosed with  bleeding hemorrhoids, your doctor will likely take one of three treatment paths. The most common first treatment is for your doctor to prescribe suppositories and or creams to be used on the hemorrhoids. Most of these things are not actually prescriptions, but are available over the counter. That said, we must urge you once again to be sure to see your doctor and not treat yourself without a proper medical diagnosis.

If your bleeding hemorrhoids do not respond to the creams or suppositories, your doctor may suggest natural remedies. While some people snicker at the idea of natural remedies, there are some herb combinations that are actually very effective at improving hemorrhoid conditions. These remedies may take a couple of weeks to start working, but it is worth waiting to see if they work because the third usual treatment path your doctor is likely to suggest is surgery. While hemorrhoid surgery is not considered major surgery, it is the least desirable path to take in some cases because it has a higher chance of leading to complications.

If you have, or think you have bleeding hemorrhoids, see your doctor and follow the path of treatment prescribed by him or her. While hemorrhoids are an uncomfortable affliction, if they are handled promptly and properly they can be managed without much complication.
