Dealing with asthma is a very serious issue. You are always aware of a possible next asthma attack. Taking daily medication is only one thing that changes in your life with asthma.  If you are suffering from asthma, than you known that finding treatment is not so easy as there is not much more a doctor can do besides giving medication. However, there are some alternative ways that might give you some relief from your asthma attacks, they will not cure you but at least lesson it. Specific breathing exercises for asthma is one alternative treatment that might help you fighting the attacks.

Not one person is alike to another and this is also the case in how someone is experiencing asthma. Most of the time no 2 persons will have the same approach in curing their symptoms. Although medication is the norm in treatment for asthma, an alternative treatment is breathing exercises for asthma.

When you have an asthma attack there is an obstruction at the upper bronchial tube. The effect of this is superficial breathing, you will inhale and exhale only using the upper part of your chest and not your entire chest. The benefit of doing exercises is that it might help in giving long lasting relief. It helps opening the bronchial tubes which supply you with more air. When you regularly do exercises, they might help in giving you some relief to your symptoms. Joining a Yoga class is a very good way to learn some breathing exercises.

Yoga learns to bring you a connection between the mind and the body and keep more influence on the way you breath. The breathing exercises aim at controlling your inhalation and exhalation. Concentration and relaxation are important aspects when learning to control your breathing pattern. The main focus is on breathing in using your entire chest and breath out using your abdomen instead of your chest. In this way you get more control in the way you breath. If you practice this long enough, it might bring you some relief.

Doing sports is also a very good thing to do when you have asthma. Your lungs are your weak spot and building up some condition will also strengthen you lungs. Especially swimming is a very healthy activity to do if you have asthma. In fact, many famous swimmers started swimming because they had asthma. The most popular swimmer with asthma was Mark Spitz.

Although medication is the norm for treatment, breathing exercises for asthma have proven to show some positive effects in bringing relief. Swimming and other sports are also a good way in getting your lungs in shape and bring some relief.
