Can foods cause you panic attacks?

You may wonder if there are certain foods that can cause panic attacks? Panic and anxiety attacks are caused not only by stress, certain drugs but also by certain foods that we use daily. If you experience panic attacks and generally you are feeling anxious than you need to stop these three types of foods: caffeine, alcohol and sugar.

Coffee and Cheesecake

Sugar is a very important factor in getting panic attacks. The thing is that hypoglycemia triggers panic attacks. When you eat sugar your pancreas overproduces insulin which in turns drives down your blood glucose. Your brain is the first to suffer from this and hence the anxiety and panic attacks. Usually, you feel that you need some to eat some sweets and the cycle begins again.

If you have eliminates other causes of panic attacks and still don’t now what it triggers them than try to follow a diet low in sugar and white flour/pasta(this produces yeast which can cause your pancreas malfunction).

Alcohol does contain sugar and for this reason, you should avoid drinking it if you experience panic issues. It does affect your blood sugar levels and as I explained above this causes you panic attacks.

Caffeine is a strong stimulant and people may experience drowses as well as an increase in their adrenaline. This adrenaline growth can give you symptoms of anxiety. Like alcohol, it can increase the lactic acids in your blood. Numerous studies have shown this to be a cause of anxiety and panic attacks. You can replace your daily coffee with tea and reduce the risks of having anxiety problems.

As you can see what you are eating can have an impact on your anxiety levels and can cause you panic attacks. If other causes of this disease have been eliminated, you may want to consider if these foods trigger your symptoms, particularly sugar consumption.
