Liposoft Cellulite Cream- the new gentle version of liposuction

Liposoft is a new development in cosmetic surgery and is a gentler version of liposuction. Liposuction is among the best known and most popular cosmetic procedures today. It is a surgical method of removing fat from areas of the body, most commonly the abdomen, “love handles” and thighs.

Liposuction is the third most popular surgical process in the US, and the sixth most popular in the UK. However even though the technique has been honed over many years, risks still remain.

Now a gentler version of liposuction has been formulated and is becoming popular. It is called Liposoft, and has many benefits over the original process. Firstly, the procedure doesn’t require a general anaesthetic, which means a quicker recovery.

In traditional liposuction, a large amount of fluid is injected into the area to soften the fat for removal. This process is called infiltration and can take up to an hour. The following stage is contouring, where an instrument called a cannula is inserted under the skin to break up the fat and suck it out of the body. This can injure the tissue adjacent the area being treated. After the surgery, any excess fluid has to drain, a process which can take up to three days.

With Liposoft, however, the area is infiltrated with a saline solution containing adrenaline (which minimises bleeding) and a topical anaesthetic, using a specially designed water jet. This eliminates the need for a general anaesthetic and enables the patient to remain awake during the procedure. A fine jet of water gently displaces the fat  cells where they float away and are easily suctioned out without being forced to yank them out.

This means less effort is required by the surgeon, which also reduces any damage to nearby areas. During the procedure, the surgeon can move the patient if required, and can get them to stand up so they can check the results. A lot less fluid is used, the procedure is quicker, and more than 90 per cent of the saline solution drains from the body before the patient leaves the surgery.

Thanks to the nature of the technique, recovery is faster. The recommendation for care after the procedure is similar to normal liposuction, with a compression garment being worn for four weeks.
