Cold sores are otherwise known as fever blisters that are caused by herpes simplex virus. These sores are considered to be contagious, which is why many people are terrified of having this kind of illness. This skin abnormality is recognized medically as recurrent herpes labialis. So what are the different cold sore treatments that work fast?
Cold sores could actually be transmitted in different ways. It can be passed through direct contact; however, doing sexual activities with an infected person is considered to be the one that pose the highest risk or possibility of contagion, particularly through oral sex. This will eventually lessen he inflammation of the cold sores, which makes it a lot easier for us to get rid of them.
Tea Bag – the use of tea bags is also as effective as using ice application. All we need to do is to apply the bag on top of the blisters, which must be done or repeated every hour. We can also try using a warm tea bag on the blisters for at least half an hour.
Witch Hazel – using witch hazel on sores can definitely give us relief. All we need to do is to dip our index finger in powdered salts and press it on to the sore or blister for at least 30 seconds. We can then rub some aloe vera or oil on the sores. Using lemon balm extract could also help hasten the healing process.
Sun protection – cold sores are known to be sensitive to extreme heat or sun. This could even cause certain outbreaks inside our mouth. This is the reason why using skin and lip sunscreens are very effective in preventing these annoying outbreaks. This is very helpful especially for those who are always under the rays of the sun.
Avoid Make Up – giving up make up can actually help in making our skin recover fast from these sores. Make up is known to have many chemicals that could basically harm or even irritate our skin. This can make the sores worsen, which is definitely something that we don’t want to happen.
Cold Milk – Cold milk is another thing that we could use in treating cold sores fast. By soaking a cotton on milk, we can directly apply it on to the blisters, which will then automatically provide relief and can even improve healing conditions.
These are just some of the effective treatments that we could rely on in getting rid of these cold sores fast. These blisters do not only make us feel uncomfortable, but it can also be an embarrassment for us to let anyone witness these sores on our skin.
