Most people don’t have the immediate extra funds to build their own home exercise gyms. It would be ideal to be able to cancel your gym membership and immediately stock your fitness home gyms with everything you might need, but that isn’t always possible.
When I set up my home gym, I made sure to start with just the essentials before canceling my gym membership and taking my fitness plan in my own hands. Each month I would put the money that I would have spent on my gym membership and used it to purchase new pieces of equipment for my home gym or save it for larger gym equipment purchases.
I’ll admit… the first few months were a bit challenging. I had only the bare essentials to work with, but there are a few really easy thing you can do to tide you over before being able to buy the bigger home gym pieces.
The first thing you should do is use all of the resources you have to your advantage. A quick search on youtube, com and you can easily find several short workout routines along with a range of other activities such as yoga and pilates. If you have cable TV, you’ll also be able to find workout channels such as FitTV.
One of the first items I bought for my home gym were a few sets of light weight dumbbells that came in really handy when I was working out with the exercise television shows. Resistance bands are also inexpensive and can be used instead of lighter weights.
By just doing the exercises I found for free online and from cable TV which I already pay for, I had quite a few different options to try out. Although that first month after canceling my gym membership could have been terrible, I happily discovered these easy options that I had not even considered before and was able to bide my time and stay fit before buying some more heavy duty equipment.
