Nowadays, in our busy life more and more people are having different sleep disorders including kids. The most common sleeping problem is insomnia or the inability to fall asleep. Yes, there are people that have sleepless night at one point of their life because of tension, worry, or other problems, but that is not insomnia. Insomnia is when you have found yourself unable to sleep for several nights in a row.
The loss of sleep affects you both physically and mentally. If you have not enough sleep you cannot be as productive as normal, so it reduces your performance in your day to day activities. It makes your mood grumpy and irritated. Even the smallest things can annoy you, which results in a lot of personal and social problems.
You may don`t know but insomnia has got three categories:
1. Initial insomnia- When you need at least 30 minutes to fell asleep.
2. Middle insomnia: Here you have problems falling asleep the whole night.
3. Late or Terminal insomnia: You sleep less than 6 hours and after that you cannot fell asleep.
There are a lot of medical problems that cause insomnia. Because of that fact, it will be best to visit your doctor about the different treatments of the insomnia. But sometimes it is not caused by medical reason, and then it is very difficult to get into a state of relaxation needed for sleep. Then it will be best to take a warm bath, or get a message. Another option is to drink warm milk or herbal tea, because they can also help you to relax. Also your bed should be comfortable for you. That means that you should have your sleep in a well ventilated room and on a good firm bed. It is also important to keep the lights off and don`t have any illuminated substance near your bed, like TV or personal computer.
