Goji Fruit Is It For You

Goji fruit products seem to be coming out of nowhere and are being introduced by the health industry in many forms – fresh, dried, tea, juice and many more. This is due to the fact that goji berries are one of the most nutritious foods in the whole world.

Aside from the numerous health benefits that you can get by consuming goji berries in your system regularly, another well known advantage that you can get with these wonder fruits is that they can easily help you when it comes to your weight loss goals. This is practically one of the major reasons why goji fruit products have been selling well and remain very popular in the health market.

About the Goji Fruit

The goji fruit which also goes by the names boxthorn and wolfberry is a small, sweet tasting fruit that grows from the goji plant. The color of the fruit varies from a bright red to orange. The taste of these berries can be compared to a mixture of strawberries, cranberries and raspberries. It can be described as something that is pleasantly sweet and sour at the same time. You can find that the shape and the chewy texture of the goji fruit can easily be compared to raisins.

The goji berry’s many medicinal and health benefits have been a mystery to the West that had them intrigued and interested but these benefits have long been known to China. The Chinese have already incorporated goji berries into their medicines and have used them to treat numerous sicknesses and the weight loss benefit has also made it easier for them to live a fit and healthy life.

You can consume goji berries in so many ways, the most common of which are to eat them raw, brewing them into a tea, adding them to Chinese soups or drinking its juice. You can also have them dried wherein you will find that they would look like red raisins.

Where Do Goji Fruit Come From

Goji berries are well known in Asia – particularly in western China, Tibet and Mongolia. They come from an evergreen shrub that grows in abundance in the temperate and subtropical regions of the above countries. It is said that if you want to get goji berries of the highest quality then the best place to start searching is in the Himalayas in Tibet.

The Chinese have treated the goji fruit as a longevity fruit and even has a legend of its power. According to the legend, a man named Li Qing Yuen ate the said berries everyday and had lived to be 252 years old as a result.

In fact the lifespan of the Asian population can stand as a better proof of the longevity effects of goji berries better than the legend itself. It has been found that a huge number of Asians who had been eating the fruit at a daily rate had been able to live up to a hundred years and maintain their fit figures thanks to the weight loss properties of the fruit.
