The green tea diet has been clinically proven to aid in weight loss and can help promote overall health. However, many consumers simply do not understand the concept of green tea weight loss aids. Contrary to popular belief, it is not a cure all and does have some limitations. As with any other type of program, proper diet and exercise are necessary to shed pounds and maintain these results.

How Does It Work?

Green tea is believed to speed up the metabolism and offers a lower calorie alternative to other drinks which may be calorie laden. These two benefits alone can significantly make quite a difference in body weight. It has also been noted that this particular product can help suppress the appetite in some individuals. Eating less and burning fat more quickly are two of the best mechanisms that can be combined.

How Long Does It Take to See Results?

Some individuals become discouraged and give up before giving this product a good try, simply because they did not see immediate results. However, it is important to remember that one does not gain over night and can not expect to lose over night either. As with anything else, the individual must give it some time, usually a few weeks at least, and expect a gradual reduction in weight.

Green tea in various forms, including the supplements may have side effects. These are generally very mild and most do not experience any at all. This can include insomnia, shakiness and other symptoms associated with stimulant use. For this reason, those that are sensitive to caffeinated products or have certain health conditions should utilize decaffeinated varieties. As with similar products, the individual should consult with his or her physician before beginning a particular weight loss program or making significant changes to the diet.
