Health Dangers With Negative Emotions

A silent health threat for many people lurks in the form of negativity. Your frame of mind, whether dealing with stress, anger, jealousy or unhappiness, can seriously impact the state of your health. While in the midst of being chronically unhappy we don’t always realize the pattern we are creating. Like any bad habit, we begin to adapt to being continuously sad, angry, stressed out or unhappy and the health implications may go un-noticed until we begin to feel the physical affects.

We are meant to lead happy and productive lives but many of us have lost our way. Somehow we’ve begun to accept that we aren’t entitled to be fulfilled and at peace each day. This is a very bad habit to acquire. This is as dangerous as developing the habit of smoking or alcoholism. Every bad habit chips away at our ability to live with good health and good mindsets, including the habit of being unhappy. As with any type of bad habit that you’ve tried to break in the past, being consumed with negativity is very difficult to correct. It can be done, though. First you’ve got to be aware that this is what is happening, then you’ve got to develop coping skills and new tools to manage your emotional state.

I first realized how far out of hand my negativity had become when I found myself spending the majority of my day dwelling on the fact that I hate my job. I was so consumed with my misery over my work place that I couldn’t see that this attitude was affecting every aspect of my life; personally and professionally. Without realizing what was taking place I was soon deep into a pit of unhappiness and depression. I quit my job, finally, and then realized that the negativity had become a habit. It took me quite a while to snap out of that reality and learn to take charge of my emotions and become responsible for my own happiness. If you find yourself recognizing these symptoms within your own life you can begin to learn skills to manage your emotions and begin to understand how to change your quality of life. Recognizing your own feelings and dealing with them is the beginning of becoming happy and calm in your existance. Quotes about moving on are good little items to read and ponder when you’re looking for answers to your negative emotions. Knowing that others have felt this way before you helps immensely with your ability to help yourself through this period of your life. Take comfort in knowing that recognizing the issue is the first step in gaining perspective and helping yourself.
