Sea salt is commonly used to make body scrubs to improve the condition of skin. These salt scrubs are safer and more effective than over-the-counter products that claim to have the same effects. Additionally, store bought products often have many detrimental effects that adversely effect skin. Even purchased sea salt scrubs can contain chemicals and preservatives that are not healthy for skin. For this reason, it is most effective to make your own dead sea salt scrubs to ensure that only healthy ingredients are coming in contact with your skin.
Essential Oil Salt Scrub:
Begin by adding 3 cups of sea salt to a mason jar. Add 1 cup of almond oil and 5 to 10 drops of your favorite essential oil to give it a pleasing aroma. Seal the mason jar, and store in the refrigerator for up to three or four weeks. Be sure to label the jar to ensure no accidental consumptions occur.
Check the benefits that essential oils provide via aromatherapy prior to choosing one, as these effects will pass themselves to you as you inhale the oil. Some, such as eucalyptus essential oil eases headaches, while lavender will promote relaxation.
Salt Scrub for Men:
Sea salt body scrubs can be made for both me and women with only minor differences. Begin by combining 2 tablespoons of almond oil with 2 tablespoons of sea salt. Add 1 tablespoon of ground bay leaf, 10 drops of spearmint essential oil and 2 tablespoons of Epsom salts. Use immediately and discard any that remains. The scent produced by the oil and bay leaf is pleasing, and shouldn’t emasculate any men.
Comfrey Salt Scrub:
Another recipe for a sea salt scrub contains the herb comfrey. Begin by combining 3 tablespoons of sea salt with ½ cup dried, ground comfrey leaves. Stir in 4 tablespoons of water and ½ teaspoon olive oil. Once again, use immediately and discard the leftovers.
A sea salt and grapeseed oil scrub can truly make your skin glow with renewed vigor. Start by mixing ½ cup sea salt with 4 tablespoons grapeseed oil. Stir in ¼ cup baking soda and 6 drops of whatever essential oil you choose. Use immediately after making and throw away the excess.
Sea Salt Bath Scrub:
This recipe is for a salt scrub specially designed for relaxing in a warm bath. Pour ¼ cup sea salt into a bowl and add ¼ cup of olive oil. Stir well, and then mix in 2 to 3 drops of lavender essential oil. Apply the scrub to your skin immediately after making, and then enter the bath. Discard any remaining scrub, as it will not store.
