How to Cure Panic Attacks The Natural Way

Everybody goes through periods of anxiety, uneasiness and fear. However, there are certain people who cannot cope with stress and anxiety that these symptoms interfere with their normal functioning and their life as a whole. Drugs can be used to sedate a person who is suffering an episode. But sufferers should not depend on drugs because of the possibility side effects. There are natural ways on how to cure panic attacks.

A popular natural remedy for anxiety is aromatherapy. Panic attacks are controlled by the nervous system. Scent is a very good stimulator of the nervous system. There are certain scents that are scientifically proven to be relaxing and calming like lavender. But a sufferer can also take a sniff of scents that have always been comforting to him in the past. Some sufferers like to smell scents that remind them of their childhood or loved ones. The scent of chocolate chip cookies and certain perfumes have been reported to calm sufferers.

Doing yoga and other similar exercises are also known to help sufferers control anxiety attacks. Although doing yoga poses may not help you if you are already having an attack, doing these exercises can train the sufferer to control himself when anxiety strikes. Basically, yoga and Tai Chi focus on proper breathing. When a person is experiencing an attack, it is normal for the sufferer to take short and shallow breaths that rob the body of much-needed oxygen. This can be counterproductive. However, doing yoga in a regular basis can train the person in the proper way to breathe which can come in handy in the event of another episode.

Lastly, certain herbal drinks like lemon balm and valerian tea have calming and restorative effects that can help a person who is known to suffer panic attacks.
