For this particular procedure, we will be needing several items including cold sore medications such as Lysine supplement, Viractin Zilactin Gel, Zovirax Ointment and Denavir. These things are usually prescribed by doctors, which is why letting a physician check our condition first would be very useful. As soon as we have these items at hand, we can now start with the procedure. Cold sore medications must only be used once our case is already diagnosed by the doctor. We can even ask our health provider some of our concerns and health options in treating this kind of problem. Doctors will usually prescribe medications that are only appropriate to our case.

Two of the most common and also effective drugs used to treat cold sores are none other than Zovirax and Denavir. The former is usually applied one the cold sore is already felt and it must be consistently used 5 times a day for 4 days, depending on the doctor’s order. Denavir cream on the other hand should be applied every 2 waking hours for also 4 days. These applications must be religiously followed regardless of the presence of any tinge. The Denavir cream is an antiviral medication that helps hasten the recovery of our infected area.

Other non prescription medications that we could use in intervening cold sores are Tetracaine cream and as well as Lidocaine, which used to relieve pain and as well as itching. These drugs could be used for 6 days wherein itching and pain can eventually disappear after 2 to 3 days. Aside from this, we can also use complimentary treatment care or supportive measures in order to lessen the irritation. We can increase our Vitamin C dosage and as well as lysine supplements, which are considered to be quite helpful in speeding up the recovery.
