Many kids, even adults, hate to eat vegetables. One of the most commonly hated types is none other than broccoli. Broccoli resembles more like a cauliflower. However, its green shade is darker in color and its branches are considered softer. Although many of us don’t like the taste of this vegetable, broccoli actually contains a lot of vitamins and nutrients that are essential in our health. Nevertheless, many of us still ask the same question; is broccoli good for you?

YES. Broccoli is in fact one of the healthiest types of vegetable there is. It is packed with many minerals that can help supplement deficiencies in our body. For us to know more about this food, below are some of the health benefits that broccoli can give us.

• Broccoli is considered as one of the vegetables with the lowest carbohydrate content. In fact, it only consists of 1.1 grams of CHON or carbohydrate per 100 grams of broccoli. This is why it is safe for us to add a little butter or cheese in order to make it taste good since broccoli does not have any CHON for us to worry.
• Just like cauliflowers and cabbages, broccoli is also very effective in boosting DNA repair in cells. This can eventually help in reducing the risk of having malignant tumor growth in our body.
• Steamed broccoli is also considered very healthy since it is already tested to reduce the risk of heart attacks by boosting the body’s ability to prevent cell damage and destruction.
• It has also been found out that broccoli also contains high vitamin C. in fact, it even has more vitamin C than orange. Vitamins C, as we all know, helps in boosting our immune system and aids in keeping our skin fairer and our nails, hair and teeth strong and healthy.
• Aside from vitamins, broccoli also contains as much calcium as a regular glass of milk. Calcium is an essential mineral in the body that helps in keeping bones strong as well as in maintaining regular heart function.
• Folate can also be seen in broccolis. Folate is a necessary substance that allows the productions as well as the maintenance of new cells in the body.
• In addition to these things, broccoli is also a good source of iron. This mineral is also an essential component of hemoglobin, which is why iron is needed for normal blood production and transportation of oxygen in the body.
• Broccoli is likewise a good source of fiber, which can be very helpful in cleansing our colon.
• This vegetable also contains potassium, which is an important substance in muscle contraction as well as in aiding proper nerve functions.
• Last but not the least; broccoli also contains vitamin K, which is an essential vitamin in blood coagulation and also in maintenance of proper bone density. This is also a very important vitamin in the development of the fetus.

These are just some of the important benefits that broccoli can offer to our health. As we can see, broccoli is indeed good for all of us.
