Is There A Link Between Oral Health and Overall Health?

Recent research suggests that there is a link between our oral health and our overall health. The bacteria found in our mouth not only help cause tooth decay and periodontal disease, they can also increase risks for other types of medical conditions, such as:

  • Heart Disease
  • Stroke
  • Heart Attacks
  • Arthritis
  • Respiratory/Lung Conditions
  • Chronic Inflammation
  • Atherosclerosis
  • Endocarditis

And the link goes both ways, certain medical conditions can increase the risk of gum disease and infections in the mouth, gums, and teeth.
