Laser Treatments for Liposuction Scars

If you have had liposuction and one of the few people that have noticeable scarring left behind, you might wonder if laser treatments to remove the scarring is useful. The answer is yes; the laser treatments can greatly reduce the scarring that can happen after liposuction. While it is true that most people do not have visible scarring after the procedure, many people that scar easily, do get liposuction scars and the laser treatments reduce the visibility.

The cost associated with laser treatments for scar removing depends upon the amount of scarring and the depth of the scarring. Many of the laser treatments can remove liposuction scars in one session, while those that scar easier or had more liposuction may require several laser treatments. Therefore, the costs vary greatly depending on the number of treatments you need to reduce the appearance of the scar.

Liposuction scars typically take as long as one year to fully fade to the color or texture that it will remain permanently. Therefore, it is a good idea to wait at least one year after your liposuction procedure before you have the laser removal treatment. If the scarring bothers you during this time, you can also use a concealer, which will lessen the appearance of the scars.

The liposuction scars from the incisions are very small and therefore, you should not worry about massive scarring after the procedure because this does not happen. Obviously, directly after the procedure, you are going to have soreness, redness, and possibly some swelling, but as with any cosmetic technique, this subsides in time.

Finally, if you have more scarring than what you thought you would, it is probably due to your family history, your skin’s elasticity, your age, and your weight before the procedure. Laser treatments work very well to minimize the appearance of scarring.
