Lose Weight Fast, But Lose It Safely

People are motivated to lose weight quickly for many reasons. For one person it might be to fit into an outfit for a special occasion, while another might want to lose weight to improve his or her health. It is possible to lose weight in a week, but one to two pounds per week is the norm.

Some sources recommend fasting to lose weight. Such fasts use citrus flavored drinks with a number of additions like lemon juice, maple syrup, cayenne pepper and water. These methods work on the premise that excess waste products will be removed from the body, helping to improve metabolism and decrease fluid retention. With some of these fasts it is possible for individuals to lose weight in 2 weeks, however those using such methods should be aware that the results will probably be temporary and the body could be depleted of essential nutrients that come from eating a balanced diet.

One of the best ways to lose weight fast and safely is to get rid of refined sugar and fat in the diet. Leave off cookies, cakes, candies, soft drinks and white bread with little nutritional value. Eat lots of whole grains, vegetables and fish. All of these are lighter foods that are low in calories but provide necessary nutrients. This way of eating coupled with 60 minutes of aerobic exercise and drinking plenty of fresh water should be enough to lose at least 2 pounds per week safely. Be sure to get at least 24 ounces of low-fat dairy products each day to maintain strong bones and teeth. This will provide adequate calcium. Those who cannot tolerate dairy can choose calcium fortified whole grain cereals of soy products with calcium.

The great advantage of following an eating plan that includes high fiber and low calorie choices is that it can be adapted to healthy living and can make it easier to keep weight off for good rather than just temporarily.
