Natural Sleep Aids – Step by Step

If you’re having trouble getting to sleep, here are some steps you can take that simple and natural. SAMe is a supplement that you can take to help you get that much needed sleep. Chamomile is a plant that is known for it’s calming properties. Tryptophan is also linked to a peaceful night’s rest. Here is a step by step method, using all natural sleep aids, to help you avoid the tossing and turning in your bed.

1. Take some SAMe supplements

SAMe is an amino acid derivative that is found in your body. It has a positive influence on your serotonin levels. Low levels of serotonin can lead to anxiousness and depression. Fairly recent medical advances have allowed scientists to create SAMe supplements. One caveat is that high doses of SAMe can lead to an upset stomach and sometimes nausea. These side effects are very mild and rare, and are only an issue if you are taking too many of the pills.

2. Drink Chamomile

Chamomile is a plant. Most of the time, it is brewed into a tea that you can drink. It is also made into oils and other things, but the tea is readily available at your local coffee house or grocery store. Chamomile tastes pretty good, especially compared to some of those other herbal remedies that you hear about. It is also much cheaper than prescription drugs. Another advantage of chamomile over prescribed medicines is that there is no dependency concern. There are also no side effects associated with drinking the tea.

3. Eat a slice of turkey and drink a glass of milk before bed

Tryptophan is an amino acid that is found in many foods. Cottage cheese, soy, milk, and turkey are some of the most popular. Tryptophan is similar to SAMe, in the fact that it effects the levels of serotonin. This will help you calm down and relax. If you are not a fan of dairy or turkey, there are supplements available.

These are simple and natural ways to help you get some sleep. Since there are no side effects and these items are readily available, why not give them a shot. People with serious cases of insomnia should see a doctor. Look for more ideas at About Natural Sleep Aids.
