Why An Olympic Weight Set Is A Good Investment

When it comes to weight sets there are many different types to choose from, including dumbbells, barbells, weight bench sets, home gyms and an Olympic weight set.  All of these various types can be very beneficial to use for strength and conditioning training which will help you build muscle, body strength, and burn fat.

An Olympic weight is a very high quality form of free weight sets.  The best qualities of metals are used and measurements for the various weights are very precise.  One way that Olympic weight sets different from other types is the placement hole for putting the weight on is larger.  This helps to keep the weight balanced and reduce the chances of it falling off the bar.

The bench for an Olympic weight set is also larger than standard bench sets.  It is 48 inches in width to accommodate the Olympic bar which is 7 feet in length.  A wider bench is also very comfortable, allowing for more stability, especially when performing heavy bench presses and other amounts of heavy weight.

There are various weight sizes for Olympic weight sets, including 500, 400 and 300 pounds, along with the 45 pound, 7 foot bar and the spring collars that are used for holding the weight plates on the bar.  The plates come in different weight sizes in a range of 2.5 pounds to 45 pounds.  This allows you to lift various amounts of weight, depending on your workout routine as well as your strength and ability level.

An Olympic weight set does cost more than other free weight sets, so you will need to keep your budget in mind when considering one.  However the precision of the weight as well as high quality of the metal and craftsmanship means it will last a very long time and be quite reliable.  You also have a tremendous amount of flexibility in terms of the amount of weight you want to add to the bar and lift.  The quality, precision, and flexibility are the main reasons why so many people invest in Olympic weight sets for home use.

Due to the expense, you may be considering buying a used Olympic weight set.  However if you do that make sure you have the bar that goes with the weights to make they fit correctly and provide the correct weight distribution.  If the set is still intact that can be a good way to afford one without having to pay full price.
