In days long past, the physical and meditative practice training given from a Tai Chi Master level instructor was rigorous. Not only were techniques taught but lineage and history too. Being taught required strict obedience and an almost blinded loyalty to one’s instructor. Any form of disobedience was viewed as lacking self discipline or open rebellion and was grounds for a shameful dismissal.

In today’s newer and more modern society this particular style of education or training is less respected and thus rarely used – although it can still be found in some cultures. We tend to seek out knowledge and after acquiring it, question its purpose and regularly apply it to our lives, testing it, refining it, and redefining it.

But Tai Chi is now no stranger to the mainstream. DVD’s, video downloads and local classes are available everywhere you look. Some might think that learning Tai Chi online is not effective, but this is not the case and many, many people can bare witness to it. Yes, some training exercises and Tai Chi movements like chi sao or push hands require a partner, but you can effectively work within the constraints of your current situation and add to it later.

Learning Tai Chi online has many benefits. It allows you to learn at your own pace. You can practice whenever your scheduler permits. You can set personal goals instead of following group goals. Anyone who wishes to learn Tai Chi for themselves whether it be to accomplish personal physical goals, acquire physical educational credits, CEU’s or to serve others and increase your own knowledge can do it more easily know than ever before. DVD’s and instant download videos can be found all over the web.
