Plantar Fasciitis Treatment

For those of you out there who are unlucky enough to suffer from plantar fasciitis I’m sure you are aware that there are various ways of treating the problem. The best treatment for plantar fasciitis varies from person to person but there are a few common techniques used. Firstly, make sure you are wearing shoes which fit properly. I know this may sound like a simple thing but it always amazes me how many people I’ve met who wear ill fitting shoes. This is one of the major causes of plantar fasciitis. Once you are happy with the fit of your shoes please make sure that they give you plenty of support at the heel area as well as the arch of your foot. This is especially important if you have a job where you are on your feet all day or do a lot of walking. This condition occurs due to tears in the plantar fascia ligament and wearing shoes with good support in this area is an excellent way to prevent it from occuring and reduce the pain if you already suffer from it.

Another treatment for plantar fasciitis is to introduce a daily exercise routine into your life. I know what you’re thinking, one of the major causes of the condition is too much exercise. The exercise I’m talking about is slightly different however and is solely aimed at stretching the plantar fascia ligament. It makes most sent to do this in the morning as you’re getting out of bed as this is the generally the worst time for pain. This can be done by simply using a tennis ball and running your foot over it a few times before you put any pressure on your feet. This will get your feet warmed up for the day ahead. You should also make sure to build up the muscles in your ankles and the surrounding area as these all support your feet.
