Portable Treadmills – Are They a Good Buy?

Is a portable treadmill a good idea for you and your lifestyle? If you don’t have much room at home and don’t live close to a gym you might think about this type of treadmill. You might also prefer to exercise in the privacy of your home but not have room for a full size treadmill. Everyone needs to exercise and it’s often difficult to fit it into our busy schedules so using home exercise equipment is a good idea as you can take your exercise when you feel like it rather that have to go out to a gym and wait for equipment to become available.

Treadmills are great for exercising and give you a good cardio workout as well as working out joints in the lower body and back. Some treadmills have advanced features such as options to adjust the speed and incline levels to vary the workout and make it more intense. They have smaller belts than regular treadmills and are smaller with typical dimensions of 30″ x 52″ x 60″. This makes them small enough to fit into smaller spaces for use and to be stored away easily. Most can be also folded so that you can store them under the bed or in a small cupboard.

The cheapest manual portable treadmills are around $120 although at this price you won’t get any advanced features. Just a basic treadmill that you can walk or run on usually with the ability to change the incline and basic monitoring of distance covered and speed. For a little more, say around $300 you’ll be able to buy one, such as the Merit Fitness 715T Treadmill, with an electric motor, preset programs and heart rate monitor. This particular model also has a console with LED displays for resistance level, time, speed and distance with easy to adjust keys.
For those really serious about their workouts at top of the range Series 7 Treadmill is around $1200 and has all the features you could ever need. Fifteen pre-set programs, heart rate monitors, quick speed keys and quick incline adjustment are just some of the advanced features. It folds up easily to be stored away.

So, if you thought you had no room for exercise equipment, think again and check out some of the portable treadmills available. Keeping healthy is important for all of us and using a treadmill is very popular way to get enough exercise.
