Setting Up a Proper Diabetic Diet

You must understand how to consume a diabetic diet properly to help you overcome diabetes. This disease can affect your life in many negative ways. However, with the right diet, you can deal with the health problems and keep you healthy. You should eat fruits, lean meat, vegetables
and whole grains. Make sure that you plan for your meals ahead of time to avoid temptations to eat unhealthy foods when you get very hungry. Here are some points that you need to consider when you want to have a proper diabetic diet:

Every meal that you take should have fifty percent portion of non starch foods. The whole grains should make twenty five percent and lean meat and saturated fats should make the rest. This means that you should watch the portions you eat everyday.

You need to learn the correct servings to take everyday. You can use your clenched fist which is equivalent to one cup. The palm of your hand can measure three ounces of meat.Your cupped hand will measure around one ounce seeds and this will ensure that you eat food of the correct size. Portion control is a very important part of healthy eating, and one people have the most trouble with.

Make sure that you eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. You should eat whole grains like brown rice and also whole grain pasta. You should also eat lean meats like fish and turkey. If you want a snack, you should go for nuts, yogurt and cheese.

You should not include foods with too much sugar in your diet. Stay away from these foods when you want to stick to healthy type 2 diabetic diet. You should not have snack on candy bars and other sugary snacks. Never take alcohol, white rice, peanut butter and cereals. This will ensure that you overcome diabetes and live a normal life just like other people.
