Severe Headache and Vomiting. A sign of trouble?

Everybody knows how a headache feels and it is not a pleasant feeling. It will often interfere with your daily life and give your pain and discomfort. Some people suffer from severe headaches frequently and this is a condition called migraine.

Although a headache is most of the time innocent and not even worth noticing, sometimes it could be a sign of a serious disorder. When a severe headache and vomiting go aside, this could mean different things. Your first thought is that you are struck down with the flu, and this is not a very weird thought. A migraine is another option that a lot of people think of when they show these symptoms. Often these people are familiar with migraine attacks and know they are experiencing.

But a severe headache and vomiting are also signs of serious threats, life-threatening threats. A worst case scenario would be that you are having a subarachnoid bleeding. This is seen when people were in some kind of accident or were hit on the head. At first, nothing seems wrong, but vomiting and headaches are a first sign that something could be wrong. When a subarachnoid bleeding is not treated there is a very big chance you will end in a coma and maybe even die. Therefore it is very important to consult a doctor when you were in an accident and have these symptoms.

Another possible illness related to vomiting and headaches is meningitis. Meningitis is an inflammation of the protective membranes covering the brain. The main symptom is fever accompanied with headaches, nausea, and vomiting. meningitis is often hard to diagnose because it looks a lot like the flu.

To reiterate, if you are having a common headache with no history of accidents or fevers coinciding, then there is probably nothing to worry about. However, if you were in an accident or if you do have a sudden fever with severe headaches and vomiting then you should call your doctor.
