There is also the fact that 20% of all deaths due to heart disease in the US are in some way related to smoking. When you consider how many die as a result of heart disease you will understand that these aren’t risks you should take lightly.
Facts aside, to quit smoking isn’t easy, let’s not kid ourselves. However, there are many products on the market that can make quitting just that more bearable for you. You have the medications such as Zyban and Chantix, where the latter has been specifically designed for use as stop smoking aids. These must be prescribed by your doctor, so make him, or her, a visit and discuss how these aids might be able to help you.
You also have the over-the-counter products, such as nicotine gum, nicotine patches, and nicotine inhalers. These are collectively called nicotine replacement therapies, and can be a great way to decrease the cravings for nicotine when you quit smoking.
Finally, you have the alternative methods like hypnosis and acupuncture to stop smoking. These treatments have mixed results in the research that is done on them, but as long as they don’t harm you why not try them out? After all, you should take whatever help you can get!
