What Stop Snoring Aids are there to Consider?

For most people snoring can be a funny thing, I always laughed when my dad was snoring very loudly when he was asleep in the garden. But snoring can also be a very serious problem. Sometimes loud snoring leads to sleeping disorders for the person who is snoring but also for the person sleeping next to it. This article will give a review of some stop snoring aids.

Many people snore once in a while, probably when you have consumed some alcohol beverages. However some people snore every night. The snoring often is also very loudly leading to severe sleeping problems. The main causes of snoring are throat weakness, fat gathering around the throat and obstruction in the nasal passageway. When you are snoring, the tissues in the nasal passageway are touching each other on both sides. The effect of this is a vibrating sound that is also referred to as snoring. Snoring is very often associated with breathing disorders like obstructive apneu.

There are different stop snoring aids that might reduce the snoring and improve sleep quality. Most commonly they are grouped in passive snoring aids and active snoring aids.

Passive snoring aids

Passive snoring aids are assets that help you sleep in a natural way and in that way reduce snoring. The most common way is the use of sleep apnea pillows. These pillows are specially designed so that people will sleep on their side and give enough support to the neck. Many people are sleeping on old pillows that will not give enough support and this may cause serious snoring. Sometimes something as simple as changing pillow might be enough.

Another passive snoring aid is stop drinking. Alcohol has a negative effect on snoring because it has some anesthetic effect on the throat muscles. Because of this many people snore when they have drunk a lot of alcohol. Therefore when you are known with snoring problems, never drink before you go to sleep if you want to stop snoring.

Sleeping on your back is a very good way to induce snoring. When you sleep on your back you will notice that gravity is pulling on your lungs and this will make it a little bit harder to breath. Therefore it is a good way to sleep on your side because this will make breathing much easier.

Active snoring aids

In most cases of snoring problems there is also a problem of obesity. Because of fat gathering around the throat the muscles have to work harder. When you are asleep they can not lift all the weight and this might cause the breathing to stop sometimes (obstructive apnea) for a few seconds to a minute. Loosing weight is a very good way to reduce snoring.

Another active snoring aid is the CPAP machine. This is a continuous positive air pressure machine that will give some support when you are sleeping. It works like an air blower as it will pump air in to your body and creating an positive air pressure. It is very effective to reduce snoring but it is not very comfortable to sleep with.

These are some common stop snoring aids that might help you reduce severe snoring. For some methods like the CPAP you should first consult a physician. Weight loss and stop drinking are always the primarily treatments for severe snoring and obstructive apnea.

Knowing when you snore and how you snore will help you determine if this condition is something you can control
or not. Smoking and alcohol intake when combined are one of the most common factors in snoring.
It lessens the respiratory vibration which is said to
    result to snoring.
