What exactly is tendonitis? Tendonitis is an inflammation of a tendon. What is a tendon? The tendons are tough cords of tissue that connect muscles to bones. It comes and it is most usually seen in the wrist and fingers, and may swell, pain, and cause discomfort.

Tendonitis can be a very painful and unpleasant condition. The doctors diagnose tendonitis after a general medical examination and an analysis of medical history.

Tendonitis is often diagnosed after the joint aspirations have ruled out gout (gout remedies) or an infection and the X-rays exclude arthritis as a potential cause. Symptoms of tendonitis share several symptoms with that disorder, and therefore they must be eliminated as potential diagnosis.

The doctor will prescribe treatment that is based on a number of factors including: age, general health & medical history, extent of the condition, affected specific organs, a patient’s tolerance for various types of treatment and how long the condition should last.

Each of these factors play key roles in determining appropriate treatment for tendonitis. The treatment may include change in activity, splinting or immobilization, surgery, and anti-inflammatory medications. Natural products are also advised, including cream and herbal supplements are. Massage therapy may be recommended along with cold compresses.

And as always, resting and relaxation are part of the treatment, such as a sensible life and avoidance of stress are physical. Sometimes a variety of treatments will be prescribed to alleviate this condition and eliminate the symptoms of tendonitis.

Whatever its cause or severity, tendonitis is a common condition that affects many people around the world in their movement and daily lives. However, with a skilled physician this disorder is treatable. Do not let the tendonitis win, see a doctor today.
