The Best Way to Cure Halitosis

Halitosis is a problem afflicting many people. Often a person is unaware they have bad breath until someone informs them. The best way to get rid of halitosis is to practice good oral hygiene and to use a metal tongue scraper.

The basis of good oral hygiene is regular teeth brushing. It is important to brush your teeth three times a day. Don’t brush too hard otherwise you will damage your gums and don’t be too quick otherwise you will miss a lot of plaque and bacteria on your teeth that will lead to cavities, gum disease and bad breath.

After brushing your teeth it is a very good idea to rinse your mouth with an anti-septic mouthwash such as Listerine. This will do a lot to kill your bad breath, especially if you are a smoker.

In conjunction with brushing your teeth three times a day it is vital that you use dental floss. Dental floss is vital to clean between your teeth where your toothbrush cannot reach. In the gaps between your teeth food and other debris collects and leads to not only tooth decay but also bad breath. Dislodging this debris by flossing every night will reduce your halitosis.

The real secret to killing bad breath, however, is to use a metal tongue scraper or tongue cleaner. The tongue holds 90% of the bacteria in the mouth. It is these bacteria that are the main cause of foul smelling breath. By scraping a tongue cleaner along your tongue from the back of the tongue to the front you remove a lot of these bacteria. By doing this you are sure to get sweet smelling breath.

A tongue cleaner costs only a few dollars. You can buy a metal tongue scraper either in a drug store or online. By brushing three times a day, flossing every night, using a mouth wash and cleaning your tongue every morning you are sure to beat bad breath.
