The Many Benefits of Drinking Water

You have probably heard medical reports and news stories recommending you drink at least eight glasses of water each day. Some news stories claim increased consumption significantly lowers your risk of certain cancers, heart disease, and diseases associated with aging. These stories are probably mostly right, yet among the benefits of drinking water the water-drinking proponents occasionally forget to mention is drinking water to lose weight.

If you are like me, you often feel hungry during the day at the most inconvenient times. Sometimes you think to yourself, I just ate a couple of hours ago. These are the perfect situations for drinking a glass of water. Drinking the water not only staves off hunger for a short period, but also tricks your mind into thinking it is consuming more than it is. This may help you to eat only the number of meals you need each day, without frequent snacking, which is not only rough on your waistline but your budget as well. Your digestive system’s ideal performance also requires consistent hydration. Just by hydrating well, you may find your bowel movements easier and more regular, which will greatly help your weight loss.

Your brain comprises 90% H2O when most healthy. Frequent headaches may be caused by a slight decrease in your brain’s mass brought on by dehydration. Often people confuse dehydration with chronic thirst, but most people suffering from dehydration do not know their affliction. To minimize the chance of a headache and to ensure your mind’s maximum capability, regular hydration is essential.

Whether you are seriously considering a weight-loss program or are just trying to become as healthy as possible, you are wise to begin with water. It is the building block of our bodies and the world around us, without it, we are nothing. Think clearer, feel better by drinking your six to eight glasses each day.

Top Tip: An easy way to make sure you get enough water regularly is to get yourself a good drink bottle. You can get a water filter bottle so that the water you drink is chemical free, or infuser water bottle to flavor your water.
