First step to help cure panic attacks is to identify the cause of the panic attacks such as depression, social phobias, stress, etc. When we are suffering an episode of panic attack, use some relaxation and breathing exercises to help in calming down. There are several helpful methods such as taichi, yoga and several other breathing and stretching exercises. Work to remove the identified negative thoughts from the mind and exchange them with positive thoughts. Try to avoid stress.

Remove some bad habits such as smoking and alcohol intake. Stimulants such as caffeine and sugar can also make you more anxious and irritable, thus it is best to avoid them as well. Change your diet to healthier alternatives by eating a lot of fruits, vegetables and nuts instead of fatty diets. Maintain a good balance between potassium, calcium, magnesium and sodium. To help increase potassium in the body, the following potassium rich foods can help: bananas, oranges, peaches, almond, avocados, mushroom, etc.

Taking B-complex vitamins supplement is helpful as studies have shown vitamins B6 and B12 generally reduce anxiety and nervousness. There are also some herbal supplements that can be beneficial to the nervous system such as valerian root, evening primrose oil, flax-seed oil. Hops, Scullcap and Valerian have sedative qualities, yet do not cause dependence or tolerance. It is advisable to start with small doses and to adjust as needed. For a calming tea break in cases of mild anxiety, you can enjoy Chamomile, Linden and Oatstraw herbal tea. Please note that you must never mix herbs with prescription anti-anxiety drugs, as the results can be unpredictable at best.

Ensure that you get enough exposure to Sunlight and increase Vitamin D intake to ensure that your body gets enough vitamin D. Magnesium deficiency also affects the central nervous system and can show symptoms such as anxiety, insomnia and panic attacks. Whole grains, whole wheat bread, nuts, seeds, pumpkin, tofu are some examples of magnesium rich foods. Magnesium supplements can also be taken if you don’t get the RDA of 350 mg of magnesium.

There are plenty of ways to help cure panic attacks naturally; the ones mentioned in this article are some of those.
