Three Excellent Ways to Deal with Constipation at Home

Constipation is one of the diseases which is quite common in many people around it.  Although it is not thought to be a serious malady, there can be many side effects which can  cause many problems.  Most people suffer from constipation from time to tie, but when it lasts for a long time the problem should be treated seriously.  Before we talk about the solution let us try to understand little bit more about this problem.

What is Constipation?

Constipation is a condition where in the bowel movements are restricted or do not work properly.  For most people it is normal to have bowel movement everyday but many others they may need to go to toilet only once in two days.  If the stool is too hard or you need to strain a lot in the bathroom, then those indicate constipation.

When the food goes into the stomach, the digestive organs including the stomach and intestines try to break down the food so that nutrients can be absorbed into the body.  At the same time the intestines have a constant expansion and contraction movement known as peristaltic movement which pushes the food material towards colon for expelling from the body.  In some people the peristaltic movements are very lethargic or not strong enough to push the food out of the body.  This causes constipation.

Remedies for Constipation

Let us try to learn what are the remedies available for dealing with constipation.  The one option which is available to all of us easily and readily is water.  Water is one of the best known natural remedies for constipation.  It is very simple to use water for constipation problem.  When you get up in the morning, try to drink around 1 to 1.5 liters of water.  Make sure that it is little warm.  Drinking this much water will increase the water content in the food in the intestines and make it softer.  Warm water activates the intestines and restores the peristaltic movement.

There are other home remedies for constipation also which can be tried safely and cost effectively.  For example certain fruits such as apple and guava are really effective solutions for constipation treatment.  Try to have either of these fruits of juice daily when you face constipation.

Castor oil is another naturally available and excellent treatment for constipation.  Have two table spoon of castor oil in the night.  This will eliminate the constipation to large extent and you may not need to worry about constipation at all.
