Ways On How To Reduce Back Pain From Sitting

Most people would rather choose to have a job that let them sit whole day long on an office signing papers, doing paper works and simply stare at the computer monitor. They do not know that prolong sitting can cause an extreme pain on our back.

Proper body mechanism is very important. This is being taught to individuals as early as they reach their school age years. Unfortunately, this is just being forgotten. Most people lean back on a chair forward without knowing that this is an improper way of sitting which results to poor body position and may sooner or later lead to back pain.

Knowing human anatomy and physiology would be a great help on what really happens and why pain occurs in a prolong sitting. A lot of muscle fibers are found in our back. The function of these very thin muscle fibers is to support the vertebral column and help on its movement. But, this muscle on our backs cannot resist excess weight and stress. If pressure is being placed on our back, it will result to an extreme pain. This tells us that when a person sits for a long period of time, the whole body weight is placed upon the buttocks and the back muscle fibers take all the work by supporting the body in order for you not to fall from the chair. It also remains your body straight and upright while sitting. But, to relieve this stress, what most people do is to lean forward on a chair. They do not know that this will do more damage.

Here are some ways to reduce your back pain while sitting. First, you should always remember the correct posture of sitting. The back should be upright which means avoid leaning or slouching forward. This action will also prevent you from having neck strains and reduce back pain from sitting. Second, you can use back supports like rolled towels, or pillow at the bottom of your back while sitting. Lastly, you can have a break on the middle of your shift and do some stretching that will improve your blood circulation and relieve the compression placed upon the intervertebral discs. These ways will truly be helpful. Don’t let that back pain be taken for granted because it may lead to serious complication like compressed nerves in the spine that may require surgery as an intervention.

A common act like sitting may cause a lot of people a lot of pain. But, self discipline would be the best key to prevent it. Proper body alignment while sitting and stretching between office hours will surely lessen the pain.
