Presently, human beings have the healthiest teeth compared to their ancestors from any age in history. The science of dental health, to some extent, can be attributed to all various whitening toothpaste and oral products accessible in today’s market. Toothpastes, whether gum or whitening toothpaste, are formulated to provide for each individual’s oral health needs.

Fluoride remains the most dominant ingredient found on most toothpastes available in the market. One of the most popular is biotene toothpaste. Fluoride-filled toothpaste is suggested by most dental professionals and these types of toothpastes are effective in stopping cavities. Cavities found in most adults and children are caused by bacteria which produces acid that scratches the teeth’s enamel.

However, fluoridated toothpaste became very contentious, and several people developed an assumption that it creates more harm than good. Uncontrolled amount of fluoride sometimes produces visible streaks on the teeth, and it can be poisonous if regularly swallowed. This gave way to the creation of fluoride-free toothpaste.

Fluoride-free training gel toothpaste is created for young children who are just starting to learn how to brush. This kind of toothpaste is aimed to prevent the child from swallowing fluoride until he learns how to properly brush. It has different levels which progressively increase the total amount of fluoride. Toothpaste for children is created with different fun flavors and packaging that will surely encourage the kids to practice proper oral hygiene at a young age.

There are people who appreciate toothpaste designed to lessen pain related to sensitive teeth. Sensitive toothpastes are designed to cure unceasing sensitive teeth.

Another kind of toothpaste is whitening toothpaste. Whitening toothpastes are designed to eliminate stains from coffee, food, smoking and aging. Regular use of whitening toothpaste like oxyfresh gel eventually whitens teeth. These kinds of toothpastes contain bleaching agents and manually remove stains. Whitening toothpaste, in the past, was commonly referred to as smoker’s toothpaste.
