Why You Should Have a Squat Rack In Your Home Gym

It is rapidly becoming common conversation during locker room talk and water breaks down at the gym: squats are the exercise you love to hate. This is because the squat is one of those exercises that heavily taxes your body’s central nervous system, aerobic system, and major muscle groups in a dramatic way that has you literally gasping for breath at the end of a set. However, it is also one of those exercises that promotes muscle and strength gain like no other.

If you own a home gym and don’t have a squat rack, then you could seriously be missing out on additional gains in muscles located on your lower body such as the glutes, hamstrings, and quads. In fact, many professional bodybuilders believe that performing regular squats will help to indirectly promote muscle gain in the upper body as well. This should be enough to convince you to buy yourself a squat rack to use at home during your next workout.

A typical powerline squat rack consists of a large square-shaped support structure usually built out of durable steel or cast-iron. This structure allows you to support the bar at different heights so that you can effectively lower yourself under it, and lift a barbell loaded with weight in a safe and comfortable manner. A safety bar can be inserted into holes in the steel bars, so that you can easily drop the weight without injuring yourself in the event that you could not handle the weight. You can find a squat rack for sale from a number of different fitness stores both online and in your local area.

If you happen to be on a tight budget, you could consider building your own squat rack as well. For this procedure you will need a variety of tools and materials including a drill, metal bars, screws, nails, and other items. To get the most from your exercise, be sure to eat a diet of fat burning foods.
