Working Mom’s Fitness Tips (What Works For Me)

I am a working Mom.  Which, of course, means that I am very, very busy.  Shout out to all of you working mom’s out there!  I will also be the first to admit that I am very, very vain, which is why I have to creatively figure out ways to be fit and healthy.  After all, exercise is one of the best defenses against weight gain, and also aging.  Here are my tips.

#1 Do the types of exercises that you like.  This one is a really big one for me.  I was always the kids picked last for teams in school and have always been a booky type of person, so exercise does not in any way, shape or form come naturally to me.   So I have found things that I really like to do.   For me that means no team sports, and playing fun games.  So I do Yoga, and I play the Wii, and I dance.  I also try to  fit in fitness in my every day activities by walking where I can, and taking steps where it is possible.  I have found that doing things that I like is way, way better than trying to make myself motivated to do something I hate.

#2 Wear comfortable clothing.  This is something I am a little bit crazy about.  When you are doing sports, you need to make sure that your clothing is comfortable for doing the activity that you are participating in.  I personally think that there are two absolutely essential items in every women’s sports wardrobe.  The first is a good sports bra and the second is a good pair of athletic shoes.  The reason that these two things are so important is because they give you the support that you need.  Of course, once you have these two basics, you can splurge on some cute outfits as well 🙂

#3 Take it at your own pace.  This is a big one in the ability to stick with it.  You need to keep things at your own pace when you are starting to get fit.  If you think you can commit to 10 minutes a day, then do that.  It is way better than nothing, or getting burned out from trying to do too much at once.  Do what you can and increase gradually from there.

Fitness can actually be fun and rewarding when you follow these tips.
