It is widely accepted that the Japanese eat a healthy diet. But did you know that the food they eat is now starting to become more Westernized. There are plenty of McDonalds restaurants in Japan now a days too. But they are not a country of fatties just yet. The Japanese diet still has a lot to offer. So what exactly is a Japanese diet?
Typically, a traditional diet in Japan includes rice as the staple food, fish, fresh fruit and cured vegetables. It is low in fat and includes plenty of vitamins and minerals as well as essential oils from the fish. These are the foods that have been eaten by the Japanese for centuries. As I mentioned above however, the younger generations are starting to eat more Westernized foods including more meat and processed foods. This is unfortunate for them.
However rice is still a huge part of the culinary landscape in Japan. Therefore it is no wonder that so many of their electronics manufacturing companies produce a rice cooker range. You can find a whole variety of products from a cheap Sanyo ECJ-PX50S to a Zojirushi Micom rice cooker. There are plenty of different models to choose between.
It is not surprising that there are so many high quality Japanese rice cookers. This is due to a combination of two reasons. As discussed above, rice has been an important part of the Japanese diet for a long time. And since the end of World War 2, their electronics industry has become the world leader. Therefore when you combine these two factors is obvious that they will produce the best rice cookers in the world.
If you want to start eating a Japanese diet then you have to get your own rice cooking appliance. They range in price from under $20 to well over $200 so there are plenty to choose from.
